home repair for veterans
Honor. Serve. Build. Repair.
Manitowoc County Habitat for Humanity is offering a new Home Repair for Veterans Program to benefit veterans and active military personnel in Manitowoc County. Similar to our Home Repair Program, we focus on high-impact, volunteer-friendly external construction projects that improve neighborhoods and allow low-income homeowners to stay in their homes with improved comfort and safety.
Existing veteran homeowners who qualify can get help with light external construction (fixing a porch, building a wheelchair ramp or repairing steps), external weatherization (caulking windows), external painting and limited landscaping (when it impacts structures or safety).
Projects are selected based on need and should meet a one or two day time commitment for completion. Our Home Repair for Veterans Program is not free. A Habitat loan will be provided at 0% interest for the cost of repair materials and any paid labor. Homeowners will be expected to spend “sweat equity” hours helping with their repairs if they are physically able.
Sponsorship opportunities are available to help support and offset the costs of the Home Repair for Veterans Program. Contact us for additional information about how you can help.
